New canning line up and running in Refresco Iberia
Refresco Iberia has installed a new line for cans in its production plant in Marcilla, in the north of Spain. According to forecast, since June the canning line is up to speed producing carbonated soft drinks (CSDs) and still drinks, ranging from fruit and sports drinks to ice teas in 33cl cans.

For Refresco Iberia the installation of this line is an important extension of its product-portfolio, which up till now consisted of carton and (aseptic) PET.

Dominique Luna, Managing Director of Refresco Iberia:

"”With the installation of the canning line, we are now in Iberia able to better respond to our customers needs and to offer a total product-portfolio, in line with the Refresco strategy. We explicitly choose to install the canning line at our production location in Marcilla because of its strategic location to supply international customers of the European Refresco group. We choose the supplier of the can raw material to be close to the plant, therefore limiting the environmental impact and enhancing to work 'just in time'. Cans will be 5 % of our produced volume this year. For next year we expect this to increase to 15% and consolidating further at 30%, in line with our objective to achieve a better diversification in formats in between carton, PET and cans.

Not only do we now offer our customers a total portfolio, we are even going one step further by offering our customers category management, a customized process to help customers maximize their sales and profit."
